RUPA BASKARAN
Rupa comes to the firm with more than a decade of experience as in-house counsel for various private and public sector labor organizations across the country, including the Allied Pilots Association, the American Federation of Teachers, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees. She is well-versed in the Railway Labor Act, the National Labor Relations Act, the Connecticut Municipal Employee Relations Act, and the Illinois Public Labor Relations Act. She has represented employees in the aviation, education, healthcare, transportation, warehousing, funeral service, pharmaceutical, and public service industries.
Rupa has experience in collective bargaining as lead negotiator for union contracts, has served as lead counsel for grievance arbitrations and mediations, and has provided guidance and counsel to union boards of directors and national officers on various state and federal labor and employment laws and their impacts. Additionally, she has provided legal support for organizing campaigns, defended against unfair labor practice charges, overseen union election proceedings, and conducted workshops and trainings for union representatives and stewards.
